The Elogio del Horizonte is Gijón's most famous sculpture, created by Eduardo Chillida in 1990. It stands atop Santa Catalina hill, over the remains of an old defensive battery, overlooking the entire bay.
Step inside: thanks to its concave concrete shape, the sound of the sea is amplified and 'roars' like a giant shell. It's one of the best viewpoints in the city and a must at sunset.
What to see & do here
- Step inside to hear the amplified sea
- 360º views over the bay and San Lorenzo
