About us

We're a small team of Gijón locals who got tired of cloned guides listing the same ten spots. This is what we'd show a friend coming to visit.

Who we are

We live here. The people behind Gijón a tu aire have walked every beach in the area, know which cider house to hit on a quiet Tuesday and have shown half the world around. We gather that street-level knowledge —the kind brochures never have— and organise it so your trip works out, whether you stay a day or a week.

How we choose what we recommend

Only what we know first-hand makes the cut. We try the places, walk the routes and update when something changes or drops in quality. Nobody pays to appear in our recommendations: if a restaurant is here, it's because we like it, not because money changed hands. That independence is exactly what makes us useful.

Our mission

That anyone coming to Gijón —no guide, no tour group, no half the trip lost googling— can build their plan in five minutes and spend their time on what's actually worth it. And, along the way, that the city and its lifelong local businesses reach the people who visit.

Run a business in Gijón?

If you run a restaurant, a cider house, an outdoor-activity company or any plan worth knowing, we can put it in front of thousands of travellers who are planning their visit right now. We work with a limited number of partners so we never lose the independence that makes us credible. Get in touch and we'll tell you how to be featured.

How we're funded

Keeping this alive takes time and money. So it can stay free and free of intrusive ads, some links to activities, tours or bookings are affiliate links: if you book through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We never recommend something just for the commission — the order of our picks isn't for sale.
