Where to park in Gijón

Parking in central Gijón in high season can be a pain. Here's what's worth knowing so you don't drive in circles.

Paid zones

Much of the centre and the area around San Lorenzo beach is regulated parking (ORA): you pay at the meter Monday to Saturday during business hours. The 'green zone' favours residents and tends to be pricier for visitors.

Covered car parks

There are several paid car parks in the centre (around the Náutico, Begoña, plaza del Humedal and the marina). They're the comfortable option for several hours or in the rain.

Free parking

The further from the centre and the beach, the easier (and free) parking gets. The west side (Poniente) and the slightly outer neighbourhoods have unregulated streets; the centre is a short walk from there.

Tip

In summer, weekends and the Begoña festivities (August), park as early as you can and walk: Gijón is easy on foot and almost everything good is near the sea.
