Exposición What Darwin Missed, de Joan Fontcuberta

📍 Avilés · View on map

Joan Fontcuberta has spent half his career playing with the line between document and fiction, and here he does it with corals. What Darwin Missed brings together an inventory of rare, singular and until now unknown coral organisms: the ones the exhibition claims Darwin never got to document.

Hence the question holding the show together: what would have become of On the Origin of Species had the naturalist seen them. The artist and image theorist runs with that hypothesis and, along the way, lays bare the beauty of creatures that climate change is steadily erasing.

It is on at the Centro Niemeyer until 13 October, curated by Antonio Tabernero. Around the exhibition there are Sunday art routes and a family workshop, both ticketed separately.
