Exposición: La cerámica de Cangas del Narcea en Llamas del Mouro
📍 Museu del Pueblu de A´sturies · View on map
At the Muséu del Pueblu d'Asturies we present an exhibition dedicated to the pottery of Cangas del Narcea, with 95 pieces tracing the craft of Llamas del Mouro from the 18th century to the present day: a trade that keeps its traditional forms, adapts to new needs and keeps innovating to survive.
The show brings together traditional pieces by the potters (xarreiros) of Llamas del Mouro -jugs, pots, bowls and cheese moulds among them- alongside items introduced in the early 20th century and fully innovative work by ceramicist Raúl Mouro, winner of the 2024 National Crafts Award and the son and grandson of potters from the village. Llamas del Mouro, in Cangas del Narcea, is today the only surviving black pottery centre in Asturias, a craft passed down from parents to children for generations. The exhibition is rounded off with historical photographs and a short film about this pottery tradition.
We recommend this visit to anyone interested in craftsmanship and traditional Asturian culture. Admission is free and the show runs from 14 April to 30 November 2026 at the Museu del Pueblu de A´sturies, organised by the museum itself.
