Every Friday in October, the Festuca Jierru botanical association holds its plant talks at the Centro Municipal Integrado Ateneo de La Calzada, a meeting space to discuss wild plants that's open to anyone interested, whether or not they have prior knowledge. This Gijón-based group has been meeting like this for years, in an informal setting, to share observations, questions and discoveries about the flora growing around us.

The sessions are free to attend, starting at 20:00, and are a great way to get into botany in a relaxed setting, with no need to sign up in advance or be a member of the association to take part.
