On Sunday 4 October, the Paraninfo de la Laboral screens the Spanish premiere of 'Sonata', directed by Bartosz Blaschke, as part of the Polska Film Showcase. The film tells the true story of Grzegorz Płonka, a remarkably talented musician who was misdiagnosed with autism for years, when he actually had profound hearing loss.
Following his journey of self-discovery, the film turns music into a tool for communication and personal growth, delivering a warm, hopeful story about inclusion, empathy and the right to be heard, set against the mountain landscapes of southern Poland. 'Sonata' has collected numerous international awards, including Audience Awards at the Gdynia, Sofia, Kraków, Luxembourg and Rome festivals.
Screened in Polish with subtitles and not recommended for under-14s, admission is free with a ticket collected in advance at the designated points, and the screening offers on-demand hearing accessibility.
