Writer Antonio Suárez Marcos presents his new book in Mieres, 'Que no haya novedad. Turón, 1950' (No News, Turón 1950), which joins the collection of stories about the mining valley that already includes his earlier title, 'En un lugar de Turón. La Vera'l Camín, entre el Pozu Espinos y el Pozu Fortuna'.

Suárez Marcos, born in La Vera'l Camín itself in 1950, holds doctorates in Physics and Chemistry and is an environmental engineer; he combined a career in public administration — he was director of the Principality's Environment Agency and manager of CADASA — with university teaching. Among other projects, he drove the clean-up of the Turón river, the Senda Verde de los Valles Mineros greenway, and the monuments honouring the victims of Pozu Fortuna and the miners who died in workplace accidents.

The presentation is on Monday 21 September at 7:30pm in the assembly hall of the Casa de Cultura Teodoro Cuesta, with free entry until full.
