Centro Niemeyer in Avilés offers a quarterly pack of two operas and a ballet on the big screen, from October to December 2026, with individual tickets at €12 or all three shows together for a special €27. It opens on Saturday October 10 with Cavalleria Rusticana, by Pietro Mascagni, recorded at Venice's Teatro La Fenice and starring Oksana Dyka and Mikheil Sheshaberidze.
On Saturday November 28 comes the ballet Spartacus, by The Australian Ballet, choreographed by Lucas Jervies, which recasts the story of the Roman gladiator as an allegory of resistance against tyranny. And on Saturday December 19 the cycle closes with La Traviata, by Giuseppe Verdi, staged by Rolando Villazón and set in a timeless circus. All three screenings start at 7 pm in the Sala Cine Fran Gayo.
