«La placa, una familia de bien», a documentary by José Antonio Quirós, comes to the Teatro Auditorio in La Pola Siero courtesy of Laboral Cinemateca Ambulante. The film reconstructs the story of an elite family shaken by the untimely death of Jenny Gutwirth, whose memorial plaque on an Asturian mountain becomes a symbol of idealised love… or of a destructive obsession.
Through the testimonies of her daughters Catherine and Marianne, the film spans generations of silence and secrets, leading to a present in which both must confront a legacy of exile, ruin and family trauma. Eighty minutes of Asturian documentary filmmaking, written by Olga Menéndez and Quirós himself.
The screening takes place on Tuesday 20 October at 7.30pm at the Teatro Auditorio de La Pola Siero. Admission is free, subject to venue capacity, organised by the Fundación Municipal de Cultura de Siero.
