"Forqué, el oficio de hacer cine", by Gaizka Urresti and Rafael Maluenda, recovers the figure of José María Forqué through his own words and those of specialists, actors and filmmakers who knew him or were influenced by him. The awards that bear his name are a byword for prestige in Spanish cinema, yet his own career as a director remains surprisingly little known.
The documentary traces the evolution of popular Spanish cinema, from his 1950s box-office hits and the Silver Bear in Berlin for 'Amanecer en Puerta Oscura' to his standing as a master of comedy and television, with an intimate look at a director who used to say he was only known as 'Verónica Forqué's father'. The screening is part of Falares, the Llanes Documentary Film Showcase.
