Exposición ‘agua’, del reconocido fotógrafo canadiense edward burtynsky.

📍 Centro Niemeyer · View on map

Edward Burtynsky has spent decades photographing the planet from above and on a grand scale, and the results tend to leave you speechless: vast dams, irrigated fields drawing impossible geometries, dried-out deltas, canals that organise the landscape as if it were a blueprint. This show gathers his work around water in the photography hall of the Centro Niemeyer, travelling across five continents.

What makes the Canadian photographer special is that double reading: you come in for the beauty — the colour, the large format, the near-abstract composition — and only then realise what you are actually looking at, which is how we have reshaped, squeezed and endangered the one resource everything else depends on.

It can be visited until 13 September, every day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., for 5 €. Tickets are sold at the Centro Niemeyer box office and on its website, and it is worth checking opening times before travelling, as they may change depending on the centre's programme.
