Encuentro con el filósofo José Antonio Marina sobre las adicciones
📍 Club de Prensa Asturiana de La Nueva España, Oviedo
Philosopher José Antonio Marina talks with psychologist Marino Pérez in an encounter organised by the Club de Prensa Asturiana de La Nueva España, focused on the addictions of our time and how to fight them. Marina comes to Oviedo to present his latest essay, 'La vacuna contra las adicciones: inmunología mental para una especie vulnerable' (Ariel), which examines the phenomenon from its biological, cultural and psychological roots.
His thesis starts from a provocative idea: addiction isn't a problem in itself but a bad solution, and against it he proposes building a kind of 'mental vaccine' that protects us from our natural tendency towards dependency. The philosopher also champions critical thinking and the need to argue opinions against relativism, in a society that is increasingly clingy and hungry for constant stimulation.
The talk takes place on Wednesday 23 September at 7:30pm at the Club de Prensa Asturiana de La Nueva España, in Oviedo.
