The El Cine del Centro flamenco cycle reaches the Pumarín Gijón Sur civic centre with 'Camarón' (Jaime Chávarri, 2005, 117'), a biography of José Monge Cruz, 'Camarón de la Isla', the genius who reinvented flamenco and broke social and artistic barriers. The film traces his life in three stages —discovery, recognition and farewell— alongside figures such as Paco de Lucía, Tomatito and Paco Cepero, without shying away from the highs and lows: his romances, his marriage to Dolores 'La Chispa' and his early physical decline. Not recommended for under-13s. Free entry until the venue is full.
