Laboral Cinemateca screens La Singla, a Spanish-German documentary by Paloma Zapata (2023, 95 min), as part of Danza Xixón. When Antonia Singla took to the stage, she did so without hearing the music: born deaf into a Roma family from the outskirts of Barcelona, she achieved international fame at just 17, captivating audiences with her presence and gaze, moving to the beat of her own inner rhythm.

At the height of her fame, La Singla disappeared, and decades later she has been nearly forgotten. Half a century on, a young woman sets out to find her and uncover the roots of her passion, in a hybrid film that weaves together past and present, archive footage and passionate music, celebrating the legacy of one of the greatest flamenco dancers of all time. General admission €4, reduced €3 for members of specific groups.
