From 25 to 30 August, the Las Mestas Sports Complex hosts the 83rd edition of the Gijón International Show Jumping Competition, one of the big equestrian dates of the Spanish summer. Over six days of competition, 16 events will be held across three international categories (CSI YH1*, CSI 2* and CSI 4*), with more than 546,000 euros in prize money and some of the world's top riders and horses taking part. The competition is declared a Principality Tourist Interest Festival and usually draws tens of thousands of spectators over the week. New for this edition are tables for the public in the Gran Prix stand, with panoramic views over the arena and catering throughout the competition, plus improvements to the warm-up ring.
