Twelve essential films of 21st-century cinema arrive at the Antigua Escuela de Comercio as part of Cinerama XXI, a new series driven by the Fundación Municipal de Cultura and programmed by the Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival. The line-up invites audiences to rediscover on the big screen works ranging from the sensitivity of Wong Kar-wai to the social satire of Ruben Östlund, alongside Lars von Trier, Paolo Sorrentino, Céline Sciamma, Carla Simón, Jonás Trueba and Hayao Miyazaki, plus a tribute to Marjane Satrapi with a screening of Persepolis.
Spread across three weekends, the series also sets aside morning screenings for younger audiences, with a family-friendly selection of independent animation. Admission is free, but you need to collect your ticket beforehand at entradascultura.gijon.es, released on the Mondays before each round of screenings.
