Winnipeg, the Ship of Hope revisits a little-known chapter of Spain's Republican exile through the eyes of a father and daughter. Víctor, a widower, flees Spain with his young daughter Julia when Barcelona falls to Franco's forces in January 1939. After crossing into France and facing internment camps, a last chance appears: boarding the Winnipeg, the ship chartered by Pablo Neruda and the Quakers of Paris that carried thousands of Spanish refugees to Valparaíso, Chile, to start over. Directed by Beñat Beitia and Elio Quiroga and based on Laura Martel's graphic novel, this Spanish production has been nominated for Best Film at the 2026 Annecy Festival. The Sunday 1 November screening, at 5:30pm at the Paraninfo de la Laboral, is an inclusive session with lighting and sound adapted for people with autism spectrum disorder, in collaboration with the VenTEA association. General admission €4, reduced €3 (children under 3 not occupying a seat pay €1).
