Cangas de Onís devotes much of October to celebrating the cheese and honey of the Picos de Europa area. The programme centres on the 85th Picos de Europa Cheese Competition and Exhibition and the Eastern Asturias Honey Fair, with Gamonéu cheese taking pride of place, alongside the 21st Regional Cheese Fair, tastings, children's activities, a cider-pouring contest, a folk show, an antiques fair and food days dedicated to cheese and honey in local restaurants. Activities are spread across Plaza Camila Beceña and other spots in central Cangas de Onís over several October weekends.
