Training Day de la Legión 501
📍 Gijón
For one day, Gijón becomes the capital of the Galactic Alliance with the 16th Training Day of the 501st Legion, the international fan organisation that recreates Star Wars costumes to film-quality standard. More than 500 characters —from Darth Vader to stormtroopers— will parade alongside a thousand support crew from the Recinto Ferial Luis Adaro to Plaza Mayor, passing through Molinón, Rufo García Rendueles, Ezcurdia and Cabrales.
The parade also brings together the Rebel Legion, who portray the saga's "good guys", the Mandalorian-themed Clan Dxun Wraithguard, and the droid builders of R2Builders and Astromech-Spain. It will be the most international edition yet, with participants from Portugal, France, Denmark, Norway and Mexico, and all proceeds go to the "Manu Barrera" childhood cancer research grant.
The main event is on Saturday 3 October at 5 PM, though there will be charity photocalls around the city in the days before: Friday 2, from 6 to 8 PM at Plaza del Marqués, and on Saturday itself, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Museo del Pueblo de Asturias' Tendayu and again from 7 to 8 PM at Plaza del Marqués. The parade is free and can be watched from the street.
