Verano Gijón brings together, from July to September, the leisure, culture and festival programme that fills the city with activity during the warmest months of the year, with Plaza Mayor as one of its main stages.
The line-up includes a wide variety of events: concerts such as Onza, Captains and Drugos; the Semana Grande de Gijón, with bands, street entertainment and the traditional Noche de los Fuegos; a total solar eclipse visible from several points around the city; virtual and augmented reality workshops for younger visitors; the play La Desconquista at the Jovellanos theatre; the Fiesta de la Sidra Natural, with a cider market, pouring contests and tastings; the night-time theatrical route through the Jardín Botánico Atlántico; and the Concurso Hípico Internacional de Gijón, bringing riders from across Europe to Las Mestas.
We recommend checking the exact dates for each activity, since they are spread across July, August and September, with most events concentrated in the second half of August.
