Romería de los santos mártires de valdecuna en Mieres

📍 Insierto · View on map

The village of Insierto, in the Valle de Cuna, hosts the Pilgrimage of the Holy Martyrs of Valdecuna, a festival with deep historical roots that blends religious devotion with the festive atmosphere typical of Asturian countryside pilgrimages. Pilgrims climb up to the hermitage of the Martyrs San Cosme and San Damián to take part in mass and, afterwards, the "ramu" auction.

The religious side begins nine days before the main day with the novena, attended each evening by devotees of the holy martyrs asking for good health. On the day of the pilgrimage, after mass and the auction, the festival is rounded off with a traditional countryside picnic around the hermitage, in a rural setting that captures the spirit of Mieres's country gatherings.

Declared of Tourist Interest, the Valdecuna pilgrimage remains one of the most beloved dates on the Mieres council's festive calendar.
