The Teatro Jovellanos welcomes Mohama Saz as part of the Encaja2 series, in a session that will also be recorded for television. The band delivers an explosion of sound that ranges from psychedelia to spiritual jazz, by way of rock and Andalusian folklore, with nods to the Mediterranean, Turkey, North Africa and Andean South America. Their distinctive sound is built around Javier Alonso's electric baglama saz and anchored by the Ceballos brothers' rhythm section — Sergio on bass and Adrián on drums — with Emil Haas on keys and synths. Clarinet, sax, extra percussion and bouzouki also turn up in their live sets and records: it's not fusion, they say, it's simply Mohama Saz. A show to get lost in hypnotic, unconventional rhythms, on Friday 30 October at 20:00 at the Teatro Jovellanos in Gijón.
