Limpieza de microplásticos de la playa
📍 Bioparc Acuario de Gijón, Playa de Poniente, Gijón · View on map
The Gijón Aquarium is organising a microplastics clean-up and citizen science day open to everyone, between steps 6 and 7 on Poniente beach. Run with the Principality of Asturias, Gijón City Council, COGERSA, EMULSA, Oceanide, Fundación Mar de Niebla and ASATA, the activity aims to raise awareness of the small plastic waste reaching our coast while gathering real data on what kinds of materials turn up and in what quantities.
Participants sample the sand and help collect, sort and measure the waste found, with COGERSA's "Desmicroplastifica tu entorno" workshop rounding things off to explain where microplastics come from and how to prevent them. No booking needed: just show up on Saturday at 11 am, bringing a fine-mesh sieve or strainer if you have one, though the organisers also provide equipment.
