The Choir Girl follows Lucija, an introverted 16-year-old who joins her Catholic school's girls' choir and strikes up a friendship with Ana-Marija, the most popular girl in her year. During a weekend retreat at a rural convent, Lucija's interest in a young worker tests that friendship and the choir's harmony, while she starts discovering her own sexuality and questioning the beliefs she grew up with. Directed by Urška Djukić, this Slovenian production won the FIPRESCI prize at the 2025 Berlinale, was shortlisted for the Best International Feature Oscar, and also screened at Spain's Seminci Valladolid festival. Shown in the original Slovenian with Spanish subtitles, not recommended for under-12s, on Sunday 8 November at 7pm at the Paraninfo de la Laboral, part of the Laboral Cinemateca selection curated by FICX.
