Led by José Antonio Longo Marina, this walk explores Villamayor, a valley settled since Prehistory, the hillfort era and Roman times. You will hear about the Benedictine monastery and its fighting nuns, the village becoming a parish with its own legal standing and some self-government, and the rich “indiano” heritage seen through the lens of photographer Modesto Montoto.
It takes place on Saturday 21 November. It leaves from the Gota de Leche bus stop (C/ Palacio Valdés, 2), 10:00 to 14:00; arrive 15 minutes early. It costs €12, has 20 places and enrolment runs 27–30 October from 8:30 at actividades.gijon.es or in the Gijón app.
