📍 Cimavilla, Gijón
Cimavilla, Gijón's oldest fishing quarter, celebrates its patron saint festival in honour of the Virgin of Remedios and Soledad. For ten days the neighbourhood fills with parades of giant-headed cabezudos, concerts and open-air dances in historic squares such as La Corrada, La Colegiata and the Cuesta del Cholo, plus vermouth sessions, live music on the terraces and the traditional closing sardine feast. It's a great excuse to climb Cerro de Santa Catalina for Chillida's Elogio del Horizonte and the best views over the city. Access to every event is free.
