The Government of the Principality of Asturias hands out the first Asturias Paraíso Natural Awards on 17 September at the Centro Niemeyer in Avilés, recognising businesses, organisations and initiatives that have boosted the region's tourism. The Gascona Street Hoteliers' Association in Oviedo receives the Tourism Trajectory Award for its work around cider and gastronomy; Puebloastur Eco-Resort Hotel & Wellness wins the Tourism Innovation Award; Taramundi Town Council takes the Sustainable Tourism Award for four decades of rural development, and the Asturian Cuisine Promotion Association (FOCO) receives the Asturias Projection Award. A jury drawn from the University of Oviedo, OTEA, FADE, FACC, FEPET and the regional government assessed 25 entries across the four categories.
