The Love That Remains portrays the slow unraveling of a marriage across the four seasons. Anna and Magnus, already separated, reunite with their three children at the rural farm where the mother lives, and the film strings together small everyday scenes of a relationship falling apart, as if trying to preserve them in a family album before they're lost for good. Written and directed by Icelandic filmmaker Hlynur Pálmason, starring Sverrir Gudnason and Saga Garðarsdóttir, the film screened at Cannes and at Spain's Seminci Valladolid festival in 2025. Shown in the original Icelandic, Swedish and Finnish with Spanish subtitles, not recommended for under-12s, on Saturday 7 November at 7pm at the Paraninfo de la Laboral, part of the Laboral Cinemateca selection curated by FICX. General admission €4, reduced €3 for Club Cultura Asturias, Pasaporte Cultural, Uniovi community and Carnet Joven Asturias members.
