El amor que permanece

Anna and Magnus have separated, but life keeps them close: they still share the rural village where they live with their three children and her mother. The film follows their unravelling relationship across four seasons, through small everyday scenes the former couple insist on capturing, as if that could save them from being forgotten in some hypothetical family album.

Directed and written by Hlynur Pálmason, the film stars Sverrir Gudnason, Saga Garðarsdóttir, Ída Mekkín Hlynsdóttir, Grímur Hlynsson, Þorgils Hlynsson and Ingvar Eggert Sigurdsson. Shot in Icelandic, Swedish and Finnish, it was part of the official selection at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and Spain's Seminci in Valladolid.

The screening is on Sunday 6 December at 7:00 pm at the Paraninfo de la Laboral, part of the Laboral Cinemateca programme. General admission €4, reduced €3 for members of Club Cultura Asturias, Pasaporte Cultural, the Uniovi community and Carnet Joven Asturias.
