In late September, the Sierra de Peñamayor becomes the stage for the deer rut, one of the most anticipated natural spectacles of autumn in the Comarca de la Sidra. This outing, guided by the Nava hunters' association (AGRUDECA) together with the town council and the Comarca de la Sidra council association, departs from Nava's Visitor Centre and lasts around four hours, travelling unpaved tracks in participants' own vehicles. Suitable clothing and footwear are recommended, along with binoculars to better enjoy the roaring of the stags in full rut. The activity is free, but places are limited and booking ahead is essential.
