Gijón's Palacio de Congresos hosts a concert by the Alabama Gospel Choir on 9 January 2027, as part of the 19th tour of this twenty-strong ensemble devoted entirely to gospel music. Under the title «Oh Happy Day!», the show runs through 19th-century spirituals before moving into a tribute to protest songs and freedom marches, including well-known numbers like «Oh Happy Day» itself.

Powerful voices, funk and blues rhythms and gospel's trademark energy make this a great way to kick off the year with some of the most stirring live black music around.
