The Teatro Jovellanos, as part of the Sociedad Filarmónica season, hosts About Shakespeare, a production by the Fundación Ópera de Oviedo that goes well beyond a conventional recital. Singing, theatre and dance intertwine to explore both the English playwright's stories and the big philosophical questions his plays raise. The musical journey is as eclectic as it is fascinating: from the Elizabethan refinement of Thomas Morley to the dramatic force of Verdi or the modernity of Stravinsky. A particular highlight is the inclusion of Socrate, Erik Satie's masterpiece inspired by Plato's dialogues, here placed in dialogue with Shakespearean tragedy on the human condition and fate. A visual and sonic fresco where word, gesture and music merge, on Wednesday 25 November at 20:00 at the Teatro Jovellanos in Gijón.
