The Agrupación Coral de Porceyo organises a new edition of its now classic Gijón Choral Encounter of Habaneras and Sea Shanty Songs, an event that brings together choirs from different parts of Spain at the Pumarín Municipal Integrated Centre to share the stage around this genre so closely tied to the seafaring tradition of northern Spain. In previous editions the gathering has featured choirs from places such as Santander, A Coruña, Oviedo or Colombres alongside the host choir from Gijón itself, in free multi-day evenings designed to enjoy choral singing in a warm, close atmosphere. It's a great chance to get closer to habanera and sea-shanty music through choirs with a long track record.
