Oviedo's Truébano park brings the San Mateo festivities to a close with the traditional Romería del Cristo, held every year on the Sunday after San Mateo and drawing thousands of people to this classic open-air 'prao' celebration. The day kicks off at 12:00 with folk music and activities for children, followed at 12:30 by mass at the Iglesia del Cristo de las Cadenas.
The programme features the Real Banda de Gaitas Ciudad de Oviedo along with several local traditional dance and music groups, and the afternoon makes room for magic with a children's show at 16:30. A free, family-friendly event that rounds off almost a month of festivities in the Asturian capital.
