The German choir HeartChor Kaiserslautern performs in Gijón as part of the Oktober-Musik Fest, a choral exchange organised by Coro Más Que Jazz. Founded in 2010, it's the largest pop-rock choir in its region, with around 50 active members, covering classics ranging from Simon & Garfunkel to Queen, the Beatles, Ed Sheeran and Peter Gabriel.
The group performs a cappella or backed by its own band — electric guitar, drums, bass and keyboards — with arrangements by its director, Michael Weickenmeyer, in a style that shifts between rock and melodic pop. It's a good plan for anyone who enjoys pop and rock sung choral-style.
The concert at Centro Municipal Integrado Pumarín Gijón Sur takes place on 6 October at 7:00 pm, with free entry until the venue is full. The Oktober-Musik Fest also includes a joint performance by both choirs on 4 October at 12:30 pm at Gijón's Colegiata San Juan Bautista, also free to attend.
