"I wish to exist for you": so begins the letter an American soldier stationed in Iraq sends to Belgian novelist Amélie Nothomb. That real correspondence is the seed of Una forma de vida, created, adapted and performed by Juan Ceacero and Isabelle Stoffel from Nothomb's text.
Private Melvin Mapple has put on a hundred kilos since arriving in Baghdad: every day, back from the front, he fills the void with junk food. He sees that body as his own creation, and he is sure the writer will understand. Between the two of them grows an intense relationship in which they never once meet.
The staging makes the body its main character and turns into a reflection on the monstrosity we carry inside, on creative obsession and on our need for other people. It runs around 100 minutes, with hearing accessibility systems available on request.
