The Gijón Philharmonic Society opens its 2026-2027 concert season at Teatro Jovellanos with Ensemble 4.70, the season's resident group, bringing together more than twenty musicians for a musical journey from the elegance of Classicism to the depths of the 20th century. The programme opens with Mozart's Concerto for flute and harp, with soloists Mercedes Schmidt and José Antonio Domené, and closes with Richard Strauss's 'Metamorphosen', a monumental work rarely performed due to its technical demands, in which twenty-three string players each act as individual soloists. A large-scale concert for classical music lovers that gives Gijón's new philharmonic season a strong start.
