"Insumisión" comes to Espacio Escénico El Huerto courtesy of Teatro del Andamio, a Galician company that builds the play around gender violence without ever showing it explicitly on stage. Performed by Gema Ulloa and Fran Giraldo, the piece works with a suggested, latent tension that grows in silences and unspoken words, addressing a subject that remains painfully current.
But the play is not only about pain: it also speaks of hope and defiance, of the chance to break free from the threads that tie someone to a broken life and start again. It is theatre aimed at an adult audience, willing to sit with an uncomfortable subject without relying on shock effects.
