The Teatro Jovellanos hosts Instrucciones para cruzar una habitación a oscuras ('Instructions for Crossing a Room in the Dark'), a piece by Pablo Fidalgo and El primo de Saint Tropez, the stage persona actor Jesús Barranco has built out of long retreats in Discalced Carmelite monasteries.
On stage there is a believer who slowly lets us into his world: a body that stores prayers, chants and rituals, and who begins to tell us a strange story — how to cross a room in complete darkness. To manage it you need calm, resolve and patience; you must resist the cold, the tiredness, and the temptation to think you already know the space, because nothing is the same once the light is gone.
An intimate monologue about faith, doubt and the most honest conversation we can have with the invisible. Catch it on Friday 23 October at 20:00 at the Teatro Jovellanos in Gijón.
