On Friday 7 August at 9 pm, Plaza Mayor hosts the opening ceremony of Gijón's Semana Grande 2026, with the traditional inaugural speech that kicks off the summer festivities. Over the following days, the city fills with free concerts on Poniente beach and in Plaza Mayor itself, along with other cultural activities across Gijón. Join us at the square for the moment one of the liveliest weeks of the year officially begins.
