Certamen de Tunas de Ribadesella

Ribadesella launches this new tuna contest, organised by the University of Oviedo's Tuna Femenina with the collaboration of the town council, bringing together more than a hundred tunos from four provinces: the Veterana Tuna de Farmacia from Santiago de Compostela, the Tuna Universitaria de Zamora, the Tuna de Arquitectura Técnica de Granada and the Tuna Universitaria de Santander. Anabel Santiago is the godmother of this first edition.
Friday opens with a musical round in Plaza Reina María Cristina, and on Saturday the atmosphere moves out into the streets with a parade through the town centre that leads, in the evening, into the contest itself. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the event moves to the assembly hall of the Casa de Cultura, with free admission until it reaches capacity.
