Fiestas del ecce-homo y el caldo. Noreña
📍 Noreña · View on map
For more than a week, Noreña celebrates one of Asturias's most distinctive patron saint festivals, built around the procession that carries the Ecce Homo image from its chapel of La Soledad to the parish church, where it stays until the main day. The programme opens with the traditional proclamation and the crowning of the festival queens, followed by popular days such as the Día del Gochu, when free servings of pork trotters, morcilla and other local specialities are handed out in the Jardines del Ayuntamiento.
The celebrations close with a countryside lunch, a parade of floats and the traditional Baile del Caldo, when chicken broth is served in the small hours to the sound of live bands. In the days before, the Casa de Cultura Severo Ochoa hosts a short season of local theatre, and the last Friday is set aside for children, with face painting, entertainment and hot chocolate.
