Fiestas de nuestra señora de la esperanza

Collera, in the municipality of Ribadesella, holds its festival every September in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza, a celebration deeply tied to the area's rural and farming life. Saturday opens with the traditional ramu procession through the streets, regional dances, the ramu auction and a vermouth session with fabada, followed by a countryside lunch, the Asturias skittles championship, children's games and the classic Spanish omelette contest, closing with a romería and open-air dance.

On Sunday the day centres on Mass and the procession, along with Collera's traditional livestock exhibition, a chance to get close to the customs of eastern Asturias.
