The Gijón neighbourhood of Contrueces holds its 2026 local festival from 21 to 24 August under the motto «Orgullo de barriu» (neighbourhood pride), four days organised by the local Fiestas Committee. Friday opens with the Pirate Carnival parade, a speech by David Alonso and The Goat Festival party. Saturday is all about Sporting de Gijón, with a veterans' football exhibition, a record attempt for red-and-white shirts, and live music with fireworks at night. Sunday brings a communal meal, traditional games and hot chocolate with churros, and Monday closes with Members' Day, a Civil Guard display and the traditional foam party. Everything is free and open to anyone who fancies dropping by.
