Fiesta de la virgen de La Guía en Llanes
📍 Llanes · View on map
The fishing town of Llanes celebrates the feast of the Virgin of La Guía, whose hermitage has now presided over the same devotion for five hundred years. Declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest, it opens with the Day of the Bollu: a visit to Cué with a bagpipe band, the unveiling of the programme and a large parade through the town centre with several bagpipe groups.
On the 7th comes the novena, followed by a night procession and an open-air dance. On the main day, 8 September, a solemn mass leads into a procession around the hermitage featuring the traditional Dance of the Arches, one of the festival's most distinctive moments. A shared meal and a countryside gathering follow at the La Guía field, with music running into the night.
A folk and float parade, starting from the Peña Tú school and accompanied by several bagpipe bands, rounds off a programme that blends devotion and celebration in one of eastern Asturias's most iconic corners.
