Documental del mes: "la pietá"
📍 Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto · View on map
The Antiguo Instituto Cultural Centre screens "La Pietá", December's documentary of the month in Gijón's Centro de Imagen series, with free admission.
More than a century ago, Flosi Björnsson and his siblings withdrew to the foot of Iceland's largest glacier. None of them married or had children: they devoted their entire lives to the glacier long before anyone spoke of it melting. Their farm remained closed until now, when photographer Ragnar Axelsson returns to the site and invokes Flosi's voice, which still draws pilgrims. Wrapped in a white shroud, the glacier sings a kind of requiem for what is being lost.
Directed by Pepe Andreu and Rafa Molés, the film is a Spanish, Icelandic and Lithuanian co-production, runs 82 minutes and screens in its original Spanish version.
