The courtyard of the Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto is one of those places where music simply sounds different, and in early September it hosts the Joven Orquesta de Asturias with a programme devoted to Viennese Classicism.

The evening travels through three forms that defined the period: it opens with the overture to «Una cosa rara» by Vicente Martín y Soler, continues with Joseph Haydn's Trumpet Concerto in E flat, one of the best-loved works in the instrument's repertoire, and closes with Mozart's Symphony No. 39. Short spoken introductions between pieces help place what you are about to hear, so there is no need to do any homework beforehand.

It takes place on 4 September at 7.30 p.m., outdoors in the CCAI courtyard.
