Jorge Drexler, the Uruguayan singer-songwriter who won an Oscar for "Al otro lado del río" (written for The Motorcycle Diaries), performs at La Isla, in Gijón's Atlantic Botanical Garden, as part of the Semana Grande programme. His music blends singer-songwriter tradition with Latin American rhythms and carefully crafted lyrics, drawn from albums such as "Tinta y tiempo" and "Silente". The show is part of a summer tour that also takes him to festivals such as Pirineos Sur, before continuing across Latin America and the Caribbean — a chance to see one of the leading names in Spanish-language songwriting in a unique natural setting.
