Midnite Sailors grew out of the drive of Gijón's own Detroit Cobras, carrying on live garage soul and rhythm and blues. Much of the line-up comes from that earlier band, and now they perform their own repertoire drawing on 1940s, 50s and 60s classics — Otis Redding, Irma Thomas, The Ronettes, Percy Sledge — filtered through their signature garage sound. The show is part of "Arte en la Calle", the free open-air live music series that fills Paseo de Begoña throughout the Gijón summer, with intense, danceable tunes made to enjoy outdoors.
